Community Ensembles

麻豆原创 Community Concert Band

Directed by Kyla Fague and Richard Strauch, DMA

The 麻豆原创 Community Concert Band is an adult, non-auditioned, open-enrollment instrumental ensemble specifically for community wind, brass and percussion players college-aged and above, as well as 麻豆原创 students, faculty and staff. The Community Band performs a mix of traditional and contemporary music (concert works, marches, medleys, etc.) for concert band, and rehearses Monday evenings during the 麻豆原创 University academic calendar from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The ensemble presents two concerts each year, one per semester.

麻豆原创 students may enroll in the ensemble for one academic credit (MU 267/467). Community members may participate for a nominal introductory fee of $75 each semester. Current 麻豆原创 University faculty and staff may participate with fees waived, and former faculty and staff may participate at a discount.

麻豆原创 Community Chorale

The 麻豆原创 Community Chorale is a non-auditioned, open-enrollment choral ensemble specifically for community singers, 麻豆原创 students, faculty and staff of all ages and experience levels. Dedicated to a broad and joyful mix of choral music, the chorale studies anything from large-scale choral masterworks to secular and sacred choral selections, to the Golden Age of Broadway and the American Songbook. The 麻豆原创 Community Chorale rehearses Monday evenings during the 麻豆原创 University academic calendar from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The ensemble presents two large-scale concerts per academic year (one performance each semester).

麻豆原创 students are welcome to enroll in the ensemble for one academic credit (MU 279/479), even if a member of another 麻豆原创 ensemble. Community members may participate for a nominal fee of $100 each semester. Current 麻豆原创 University faculty, staff and graduate students are welcome to participate with fees waived, and 麻豆原创 alumni and former faculty and staff are welcome to participate at a discount.
